Future Classics designer fashion
FUTURE CLASSICS was launched in 2000 and has grown to such an extent that it’s now stocked in numerous exclusive boutiques and departments stores in Japan, the USA, Australia, the Middle East and in the UK. The label received a four-season New Generation sponsorhip. FUTURE CLASSICS is exhibited during Paris and London Fashion Weeks.
The line is known for its new take on the traditional T, knitwear, and modern vintage clothing. Styles you can expect from this line include tiny cardis, vests, pretty skirts, fine jerseys and knits worked into double-front T-shirts. Colours by this label tend to be on the darker, murkier side like petrol, watery blue, dark ink and moss green.
The designer behind the FUTURE CLASSICS brand was a painter and singer/songwriter before she started her label. In 2006 she took a break from designing so that she could redefine the direction of her collection. During her break she briefly returned to singing and writing and released an album in 2007. The album was co-written with Rothko and Benjamin Page of rocketnumbernine.
FUTURE CLASSICS is known for adding quirky twists to traditional female garments. Basic details were abstracted – like the over-dying of Liberty print fabrics — and taken out of context to create fascinating and original garments.
