Temperley London was launched in September 2000 during the London Fashion Week. The designer behind the label, Alice Temperley, launched her label with her husband Lars von Benningsen, after turning down very prestigious positions in international fashion houses.
Alice Temperly was born in England in 1975. She trained at London’s Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and also has a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Art. She specialised in fabric technology and print and her innovative use of the two resulted in her winning many awards at a young age.
The designer behind the Temperley London won the Award for Innovation from Central Saint Martin’s and English Print Designer of the Year 1999 in Indigo, Paris. More recently she was named one of Britain’s top 30 business women, the Glamour Magazine Designer of the Year Award , the Walpole Award for British Design Elegance and the Elle Magazine Young Designer of the Year Award.
Temperley London is known for its fully rounded ready-to-wear collection, signature Temperley dresses and knits as well as tailored and casual separates. Temperley London also produces a Bridal Collection and Black Label line. The Bridal Collection features exclusive Temperley designed beading, embroidery or lace and the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Products by this brand are sold in more than 290 boutiques in 35 countries.
