If you need an inexpensive personal laser printer with has a nice sharing option built into it then the Brother HL 2070N printer is the perfect choice. It can either be connected to your existing home network or directly to a computer. The printer prints excellent text quality that is not only crisp but also well defined.
Setting up the printer is very easy and weighing in at just 14.3 pounds it is also easy to handle. The built-in automated network setup helps you get up and running in no time. If you look closely at the Brother HL-2070 you will notice that it is actually a variation of the HL 2040. The same print engine is here which has a 250 sheet capacity. Like the HL 2040 it also has the convenience of the one sheet manual feed.
In our opinion that is were the similarities with the HL 2040 end and don’t think this is just the 2040 with networking options because it even has more memory. The good thing is that unlike the 2040 the print job in this printer is processed at the printer rather than your computer.
The HL 2070 is has a good speed and churns out a decent page per minute. Now since laser printers are all about being fast and furious along with good text prints this certainly does a good job. I did find however that photo printing is a bit slower. At higher resolutions it might slow down quite a bit. However I didn’t find this printer to be very good at printing graphics. The printer has a problem with dithering and posterization.
This printer seems to also have an awful paper handling bug because it manages to curl the pages slightly. This however has been fixed to some extend on future models. If you are a person that requires a good text printer then this printer is surely worth considering. However hold off the decision if you want to print high resolution graphics.
This printer has been set at a very good prince level and does a decent job. It excels at what laser printers are meant to do and that is print high quality text. It can still print small low resolution graphics but you shouldnt expect good results. However it does quite a good job at printing fine monochrome graphics which some word documents have.
The Brother HL 2070N Toner is large enough to provide you with a considerable period of service. You won’t have to constantly replace it. In most small offices this toner should last you a few moths depending on just how much you print.
If it is used to print graphics it might slightly lower the life of the Brother HL 2070N printer toner possibly cut in it in half. This is another reason not to use this HL Compatible Toner to print any kind of high end graphics and just let it stick to printing text.
