Topping The Trends: A Velour Tracksuit

03Mar10

Trends come in and out of fashion with today’s retail system but if an item is extremely popular it will become a wardrobe staple. Jeans would be one of the best examples of the past 50 years. Our new closet staple item seems to be a velour tracksuit.

Unlike other trends, shops continue to stock velour tracksuits season to season. It has enjoyed seasons of popularity in the past however this time they have been around for a couple of years already. Two years on the fashion scene is an age in modern styling.

Velour tracksuits came to public view through celebrities at first. Britney Spears used pink velour tracksuits for her bridesmaids in her wedding to K-Fed. Then footballer’s wives took on the trend during international competitions.

On the high street they have become popular with everyone. People like them so much because they are comfortable and stylish. But you should only wear a good quality velour tracksuit. When it is washed it should keep its shape. It is also important that the colour does not fade. The Tracksuit will be more trashy than trendy if the quality is bad.

Dark colours work best on tracksuits for adults as colours can look like you are trying to look younger than you are. Pinks, light blue and green are not for the over 20s. Navy, dark grey, brown and black are flattering.

Children however look gorgeous in brightly coloured velour tracksuits. It is hard to find comfortable, practical and stylish clothes for young girls. When all of these features are combined your daughter will be happy. Children like wearing them because they are so easy to pull on and get off before and after swimming and other popular activities.

So with this in mind, take a look at tracksuits offered by different retailers. Some will be better quality than others. Quality can be found at retailers who socialise in other velour clothing as well. Make sure that you do not get overcharged for the tracksuit, £60 should be the maximum. But if you spend too little you will end up with a tracksuit that disintegrates after one wash.
